Season of Change

With the weather changing and people staying inside more I am trying to get better at blogging.  So here goes...

Lets see we have moved the shop since I last blogged and it has been a huge adjustment.  Lots of new fabric to choose from.  We went from 648 square feet to 2700 square feet.  I have a lovely sitting area for you to come visit or bring hand sewing to work on in the shop.

We are still continuing with the Farmers Wife Sew Along.  We have made lots of blocks :)  I am already planning for the upcoming year.  I will be having another Sew Along with the new Farmers Wife Book 1930s.  As you know the first book has 111 blocks and there is no way we will have them finished by the end of the year so we will be continuing the Sew Along for the first book in 2016.  I am still finalizing the dates.

I have many interested in beginning quilting classes so I will have a sample done this month and have chosen a nice book that teaches a lot of techniques.  I will be starting that January 12, 2016.  For further information please come in the shop.

January 15th I will be hosting a Featherweight Class on learning your machine.  For further details check out the class page on my website or give me a call.

I am going to do my best to blog once a month about anything I think you might want to know :) Enjoy!!

Farmers Wife Quilt Along

When I opened the shop in October 2014 one of the quilts I wanted to do in the shop is the Farmers Wife.  I have done a lot of research on the quilt.  I have two groups who meet monthly.  We started the quilt along in January, and we made two blocks that month, and the ladies decided they wanted to make more than two blocks a month so we are now making four blocks a month.  The ladies have enjoyed making the blocks, and reading the stories.  I will continue to post our monthly progress, and maybe it will inspire you to do a farmers wife quilt of your own.

January Blocks

February Blocks

March Blocks

April Blocks

In June 2015 there is going to be a new Farmers Wife coming out, and the blocks are going to be about Farmers Wife from the Depression.  I will be hosting a quilt along next year on that book as well.

Spring has sprung

I have to apologizes for not posting regularly on our blog.  I have been rather busy, and so has the shop.  We have some exciting classes planned in April.  There are some beginner level classes, and advanced level classes.  I will have my shop at the Clarkston Quilt Show April 25th & 26th .  How exciting our fist show with the shop.  I am going to try to keep up better with our blog, and keeping you in the loop of happenings going on at the quilt shop.
